Overdue book returns to library... 120 years later

The granddaughter of a former student returned a book to the school library 120 years after it was borrowed, with a note that read:

"I am sorry to inform you that one of your former pupils, Professor A.E. Boycott FRS [Fellow of the Royal Society], appears to have stolen the enclosed — I can't imagine how the school has managed without it!"

Fortunately, no late fees were imposed. The fine could have been about £7,500!
